Can you picture what it must feel like to no longer have the ability to shop for groceries and stand long enough to prepare a meal? Can you imagine how the holidays feel for seniors who are isolated, perhaps having lost their spouse or experienced their children moving far away?

As 2021 comes to an end, I would like to take a moment to thank you for all your participation, volunteer hours and financial support, which enabled us to enhance the lives of those who rely on us. As the holiday season approaches, the Spectrum seniors remind me that aging is the one thing we all have in common. All of our seniors share a common hope to live independently in their homes for as long as possible.

While we reflect on the year behind us, I am focused on the year ahead of us. There are 270,000 seniors in Alameda County and 1 in 6 of them faces the threat of hunger and malnourishment, so I am asking for your help by making a contribution to provide a daily nutritious meal and more.

Every $10 provides a healthy meal and a wellness check for a senior. $50 will feed homebound and active seniors for a week. $100 will provide a week's worth of meals for a couple like Bishara and Roxanne.

No gift is too big or too small and every dollar is needed to continue serving clients like Bishara and Roxanne. "This program really helps us out. The food is terrific. I especially LOVE the lasagna. Picking up lunch every day gets us out of the house and the Spectrum staff and volunteers are just terrific," said Bishara.

Thanks to supporters like you, over 200,000 meals were given out this past year. The average donation that we receive from our seniors is only 70 cents per meal.

Please ensure that all Alameda County seniors needing healthy meals and wellness checks will continue to receive them in 2022, by making your gift of $50, $100 or $200 today!

Help us by giving out postcards, found here, to others who will join you in supporting seniors. Together, we can impact the quality of life for our senior neighbors.
