Show your love event postponed

This event has been postponed!

We are saddened by the news today of the passing of Dennis Yep, spouse of our Board President and Co-Chair of the Show Your Love Event. With heavy hearts, we have made the decision to put the event on Friday, January 29, 2016 on hold.

We deeply appreciate all the volunteer work and support Mr. Yep gave to Spectrum on many past events. This loss affects all of us. Mr. Yep was dedicated to this event. Our hearts go out to his wife, Heddy and their family.

Through the Summer and Fall of 2015, Alameda County is conducting an Older Adult Survey that asks older adults about their needs, issues, and concerns. The anonymous Survey will provide important input from the community that will help make Alameda County a better place for older adults to live. The county hopes to reach as many Alameda County residents who are age 55 or older as possible.

Survey results will inform and guide a comprehensive public planning process that will result in Alameda County's new Plan for Older Adults. The effort is a collaboration of Alameda County's Social Services and Health Care Services Agencies, and is guided by a planning committee composed of representatives from community-based services, housing, healthcare, public health, behavioral health, and the senior community.

Welcome to our new website. In building this site, our overriding goal was to provide ease of use to the widest audience possible, to be accessible by people of all abilities and disabilities, so all users can have equal access to information and functionality.

Web accessibility also benefits people without disabilities. For example, a key principle of Web accessibility is designing Web sites and software that are flexible to meet different user needs, preferences, and situations. This flexibility also benefits people without disabilities in certain situations, such as people using a slow Internet connection, people with "temporary disabilities" such as a broken arm, and people with changing abilities due to aging.

COVID-19 Update: All events have been cancelled as of now. This will create a huge funding gap, please consider making a gift today to help keep Spectrum services in place.
