Put a Spring In Your Step with New Shoes

Many  times throughout the year we wear a specific shoe for a specific reason. Flip flops to the beach, snow boots in the snow, dress shoes for the holidays... but what about the shoes you wear everyday?  Why is your daily footwear important for fall prevention?  Let's take this quick quiz and find out!

Do your feet hurt at the end of the day?  Shoe rubber wears out and hardens, which means it is no longer absorbing impact to cushion your joints.

Are the bottoms of your shoes smooth?  When the tread wears out, your shoes become slippery, which puts you at a higher risk for falls.

Do your shoes fit well?  Shoes that are  too tight and restrict movement can become loose and unstable.

Make 2023 a FALL FREE year with Spectrum Fall Prevention. We are excited to add new members to our team and continue to provide the educational workshops and exercise classes we all need to stay strong as we age.

We have a new program starting in 2023 for those with arthritis!  Walk With Ease will begin in February at the San Leandro Senior Community Center. This 6 week, 1 hour program will help you become self motivated to use walking as an effective tool to increase strength, improve balance and help improve the symptoms of arthritis.

It’s most people’s worst nightmare - driving home from work like any other day, then suddenly your life changes forever.

This happened to Debbie on August 12, 2020 when she suffered major injuries as the result of a head-on collision in a San Leandro tunnel and had to be extracted from her vehicle using the jaws of life. The other driver had crossed over the dividing line traveling at excessive speeds and lost control as she bent down to search for a dropped cell phone. A passing BART train operator saw the collision and called first responders to the scene. Months later, Debbie would find out that the train operator was the son of one of her good friends.
